The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit and his wife Melissa Skerrit joined the most-awaited festival of the island – the 12th annual Jazz ‘n Creole 2023 on April 30, 2023. The housing minister Melissa Skerrit felt delighted to be part of this wonderful celebration.

Minister Melissa Skerrit took to Facebook to share a picture of herself with her husband, Roosevelt Skerrit and said, “Dominica Jazz N’ Creole 2023!! We had a wonderful night and enjoyed the beautiful music, art, and ambience.”

Several social media users took to Facebook to appreciate the beautiful couple. “This is the prettiest, most classy, and most fashionable First Lady I’ve seen! I love Melissa,” wrote a user named Maggy Estephan. “Absolutely stunning! Love the outfit,” wrote another user named Jasmine M Joseph.

Jazz & Creole 2023 has been deemed a major success, with Dominicans and visitors heaping praise on the organizers. Many are already looking forward to Jazz & Creole 2024.

The festival turned out to be a huge success, and the organizers thanked all the sponsors who supported and contributed to Dominica’s 12th Edition of the event.

“We are truly grateful for your support! Special mention to Petro Caribe, the Office of disaster management, Dominica Air and Sea Port Authority, Fresh Market, the Dominica forestry division and other sponsors and partners that made Jazz’ n Creole a success,” added the authorities.

The signature performers on the night of the event were Shelly Alfred of the Signal Band, the stunning Phyllisia Ross, and the hip-hop violin duo Black Violin. Jazz ‘n Creole brought an all-new band to the main stage last Sunday. For the first time in Dominica, Octeto Kanaima, a Venezuelan Orchestra, is getting an energetic jazz performance at this signature music event.

The festival also featured a kid’s zone, and all children aged 12 and under enjoyed different activities and treats during this signature event. The kid’s zone included the following:

  • Bouncy Castle
  • Sand art
  • Beads Station
  • Face Art
  • Basketball Double Hoop
