Dominica: The Minister of Tourism of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Denise Charles, along with other representatives of the Tourism Ministry, is concentrating on forging connections with stakeholders, tourism organizations, and individuals working in the industry. Minister Charles focuses on building sustainable and community-based tourism in the country, which requires community engagement.

Last Wednesday, Minister Denise Charles, Minister of Tourism, and PS Lisa Valmond organized a site visit to Mero Beach with the Parliamentary Representative, Darron Lloyd, community development groups, and Staff of Tourism & Discover Dominica Authority.

The purpose of this meeting was to listen to the views, challenges, and improvement suggestions from the community level. Further engagement will involve proposing plans and a way forward.

The Minister is taking rounds to various locations around the island in order to engage with different individuals and look over the country’s development in the tourism sector.

Also, Minister Charles has teamed up with Doubout and the young fishers of Pointe Michel to assist in restoring the slipway in Sibouli. This will make it easier for the fishers to pull up their boats, especially during bad weather.

Several people of Dominica also appreciated the Tourism Minister for keeping up the good work and making community engagements her priority. This year the island nation saw a major surge in its tourism sector as it welcomed a huge number of tourists during the 2022-2023 cruise season. This surge is because of the hard work of the tourism ministry being led by Denise Charles.

The Minister has always been at the forefront of continuing engagements with various stakeholders, organizations and people who are involved in this sector so that she can note and work on every possible point to uplift it and make Dominica every tourist’s dream place. Denise Charles will continue such interactions inside and outside the island nation.
