The much-anticipated Joker sequel is all set in the making. Director Todd Phillips has confirmed the sequel’s making on Tuesday. It looks like Actor Joaquin Phoenix is on-board.
In the Instagram post, a black and white photo shows Joaquin sitting beside a window with a picturesque skyline in the backdrop and smoking a cigarette as the script rests on his lap.
Todd also revealed the photo of the red cover of the script, revealing the title as ‘Joker Folie a Deux,’ a French medical term indicating a mental disorder which affects two or more people, and ‘written by Scott Silver and Todd Phillips’.
The date of the script was revealed in the bottom left-hand corner on May 18, 2022. That’s why they have been keeping the information under their hats.
The original Joker was released in October 2019. It was a big commercial success grossing over $1billion at the box office globally, and a critical one, with the dark film earning 11 Oscar nominations and winning two for best original score and best actor for Joaquin’s performance as the deranged stand-up comedian turned serial killer.
Joaquin also won best actor accolades at the Baftas, the Critic’s Choice Awards (CCA), Golden Globes, and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards.

The original film follows the life of the tortured wannabe comedian Arthur Fleck, whose feelings of being downtrodden by society ultimately transform him into the infamous criminal mastermind.
Alongside Joaquin, the film’s cast also included Robert De Niro and Zazie Beetz. Reports of a sequel first emerged in May 2021, but Joaquin’s involvement may surprise him as he previously expressed mixed feelings about a second movie. A release date for Joker 2 is yet to be announced.
