The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica is working diligently to construct the Dominica International Airport as soon as possible. The government has updated that the construction process is moving quickly as updated.
The project of the international airport in Dominica is noted as one of the majors in the Caribbean region, as it will connect the small island state of Dominica with the rest of the globe. The Dominican government has stated that the airport will be climate resilient and will be able to withstand all upcoming natural disasters.
The citizens and residents of Dominica were pleased to see the swift movement of the international airport construction. Several of them took to Facebook to appreciate the government and lauded it for speedy and efficient work.
A user named Kalinago Woryi said, “I am looking forward to seeing this in a youthful enough time of my lifespan actually to enjoy it”. “And the positive beat goes on. God bless this project and must see through to completion,” wrote another user named Alixon Laronde.
Recently, Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit ensured that the government has planned that this international airport will be completed and operational by the year 2026. According to the update, after the inauguration of this airport, the country will get more than 20 airlines from the Caribbean, Europe as well as North America.
Notably, this project was announced in 2020 and costs around $1 billion. The airport will be built in the Wesley region, and the facility will have three gates, and it is expected that the annual throughput will be around 60,000 individuals.
The update also mentioned that Prime Minister Skerrit visited the construction site at Wesley and interacted with the media persons. During the interaction, he said many important aspects and expressed his pleasure over the swift movement of construction.
The prime minister was accompanied by officials from Cabinet and Parliament, Montreal Management Consultants (MMCE) officials and the contracting firm CR5 as well as members of the Board of Directors of the International Airport Development Company.
