British HC Brian Jones visits Bau Island, reaffirms close ties with UK

The British High Commissioner, H.E. Brian Jones, along with their colleagues of the UK in the South Pacific Island, visited Bau Island earlier this week. British High Commissioner and their colleagues in the UK visits to the South Pacific Island’s main aim was to build a long historical connection between the people of Bau Island and the United Kingdom.

Additionally, to reaffirm the close ties to the UK and highlight the significant relationship between both the regions, the team met with Ratu Epenisa Cakobau and the High Chief of the Bau Islands. During their visit, they seized the opportunity to admire, recognize and appreciate the central role of the Bau Island community.

The update was shared for the general public by the Offices of the British High Commission in the South Pacific through the government organized on their official Facebook page “The UK in the South Pacific” on Saturday, 25 February 2023 at 5:30 A.M.

British High Commissioner, Brian Jones, also put forth the effort to cherish the beauty of Bua Island flora by updating a post on their official Twitter account of Vunikaulevu – a large rain tree near the village green in the middle of the chiefly island of Bau where Sotakoro, a Yavu belonging to the Vusaratu clan of the Roko Tui Bau behind the tree and underneath along with the implies he commented, “An amazing visit today, #TeamFiji. Who knows where?”

On the other hand, besides this time, Jonas always tried to connect with the ministers, considering their feedback and offering alternatives that strengthened the historical connection worldwide.

The UK in the South Pacific also shared the timeline of the visit through some pictures, which truly reflects as well as highlights the ongoing long historical connection between the people of Bau Island and the United Kingdom.
