The Austrian Embassy in Den Haag celebrated the legacies of Ute Bock, Volker Türk and Bertha von Suttner, whose tireless efforts inspire them all.
One of the Human Rights activists, Bertha von Suttner, was a pioneer of the peace movement and the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Her tireless efforts to promote disarmament and peaceful resolution of conflicts remind us that diplomacy and dialogue are powerful tools in pursuing justice and equality.
Volker Türk, an Austrian diplomat and current United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, made significant contributions to international human rights and refugee protection.
His work at the United Nations, advocating for refugees and migrants, has left an indelible mark on the global community. Volker Türk’s vision of a world where everyone’s rights are respected is a guiding light for us today.
Ute Bock dedicated her life to helping refugees and asylum seekers in Austria. Her unwavering commitment to providing shelter, support and dignity to those in need set an example for us all.
Ute Bock’s legacy reminds us that compassion knows no borders, and we should always stand up for the rights of the most vulnerable.
Further, the Embassy also shared the remarkable quotes these three human activists have made:
“One of the Eternal Truths is that Relationships are created and developed in peace, and one of the eternal rights is the individual’s right to live,” said Human Rights Activist Bertha Von Suttner.
“You can only live well if you know others are doing well too,” Human rights Activist Ute Bock.
“We need to work harder together to truly place human rights at the core of all dimensions of sustainable Development,” said Human Rights Activist Volker Turk.
