Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “peace is being established in Jammu and Kashmir, and the Union Territory is once again returning to its old civilization and traditions after the abrogation of Article 370”.
During the inauguration of Maa Sharda Devi Temple in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district via video conferencing, Shah stated that the Modi government is renovating many temples and faith centres for the revival of the culture in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Centre abrogated Articles 370 and 35(A) from the erstwhile state on August 5, 2019, following which Jammu and Kashmir were bifurcated into two Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Shah mentioned that Sharda Peeth had been a historical centre of India’s cultural, religious, and educational heritage and stated that the Modi government would move towards opening Sharda Peeth for devotees, similar to the Kartarpur Corridor.
In line with the commitment to social and economic transformation, Shah said the Modi government had taken initiatives in all areas of Jammu and Kashmir, including the revival of culture, restoration and repair work at 123 identified include many temples and Sufi places.
Thirty-five places are being renovated at Rs 65 crore in the first phase, and 31 mega-cultural programs have also been organized by identifying the places of 75 religious and Sufi saints. A total of 20 cultural festivals have also been collected in every district, which according to Shah, will help revive the old heritage.
Shah started his address by wishing countrymen a happy new year and said the inauguration of Maa Sharda’s temple was the beginning of a new era. He added that the reconstruction of Maa Sharda’s temple in Kupwara was an important step in discovering Sharda civilization and promoting the Sharda script.
Several dignitaries were present, including Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Shah commended the efforts of Sinha, stating that the zeal with which he has worked to implement all the flagship schemes of Prime Minister Modi is praiseworthy. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Sinha has played a significant role in bringing industrial investment to Jammu and Kashmir.
